Anganwadi Welfare Fund Bill referred to Subject Commite

Minister M. K. Munner piloting the BillThe Assembly on Tuesday referred the Kerala Anganwadi Workers’ and Anganwadi Helpers’ Welfare Fund and the Kerala Land Tax (Amendment) Bill to the subject committees concerned.
Minister for Social Welfare M. K. Muneer, who piloted the Welfare Fund Bill, said that it was a revolutionary legislation. The Bill seeks to accord statutory status to Welfare Fund Board for anganwadi workers and helpers.

Government considering law to recognise tenancy

New Delhi: The Union government is considering adopting a law to formalise tenancy in agriculture. After the Task Force on Agricultural Development set up by the NITI Aayog identified the absence of formal recognition of tenancy in many states as a major hurdle in consolidating landholding,

Government sources say that process to draft a model law to formalise tenancy will soon start.

Cabinet recommends issue of five Ordinances

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Cabinet on Tuesday recommended to the Governor the promulgation of an Ordinance to provide for formation of vigilance committees at the panchayat and constituency levels to prevent atrocities against women and children.

The Kerala Panchayat Raj (third amendment) Ordinance proposes that the committees should meet at least once every month.

Malayalam Language Bill passed

Thiruvananthapuram: The Assembly passed Malayalam Language (Dissemination and Enrichment) Bill on Thursday.

The provision that candidates getting selection to government service should pass a PSC examination equivalent to senior higher diploma course offered by Malayalam Mission, if they had not studied Malayalam at the school or degree level, was dropped from the Bill.
