Assembly observes diamond jubilee of Kerala Formation

Kerala Assembly special sitting on November 1, 2016Kerala Assembly observed the 60th anniversary of Kerala Formation with a special sitting on Tuesday, 1st of November 2016.

Chief Minister Pinarai Vijayan said in felicitation speech that wider concord that dimmed differences led to the formation of Kerala.

Government plans trauma care facilities in all major hospitals

K. S. Sabarinadan initiating disucssion on road safety on MondayHealth Minister K. K. Shylaja said in the Assembly that the government proposed to implement an emergency medical scheme, focussing on establishment of trauma care units at the taluk level.

Intervening in the discussion on road safety initiated by K. S. Sabarinadan (Congress) as a matter of urgent public importance, the Minister said that the next meeting of the Road Safety Authority would consider the scheme.

Comprehensive medical insurance scheme on the anvil

Finance Minister Thomas Isaac replying to debate on supplementary demands for grants on Oct. 31Finance Minister T. M. Thomas Isaac said in the Assembly on Monday that about a dozen medical benefit schemes including the Karunya Scheme would be integrated into a comprehensive insurance scheme.

Replying to the supplementary demands for grants for 2016-17, the Minister said that the insurance scheme would cover all persons eligible under Rashtriya Swasth Bima Yojana.

Kerala to be declared drought-hit

Drought (representative picutre)Revenue Minister E. Chandrasekharan told the Assembly on Monday that all districts in the State would be declared drought-hit.
Responding to a notice for adjournment motion from V. S. Sivakumar (Congress) on drought conditions in the State, the Minister said that the rainfall during South West monsoon was deficient by 34 per cent.  There was also drop in rainfall in October -- it was 69 per cent lower than the normal.

Chennithala demands action against cooperative society for auctioning tribal’s land

Opposition Leader Ramesh ChennithalaOpposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala has demanded that action should be taken against Kasaragod District Cooperative Housing Society which had auctioned off the land and house of a tribal family for pittance.
