Seat sharing talks begin in UDF

Thiruvananthapuram: Seat sharing talks in the UDF has begun with leaders meeting here on Wednesday.

It had been generally agreed that all constituents could contest for their sitting seats. The talks will be mainly regarding seats they had not won last time. Minor constituents of the Front have demanded more seats with the Janata Dal (United) demanding as many as 10 seats. Kerala Congress is waiting to demand more seats during bilateral talks.

Scramble for seats in Kerala Assembly elections

flagsA scramble for seats in the forthcoming Assembly elections in Kerala is on in the ruling United Democratic Front, and to a lesser degree in the Opposition Left Democratic Front. Indications are that the pitch will surpass the rivalry in the previous elections.

Assembly polls: Congress draft list of candidates to be prepared by March 1

KPCC President V. M. Sudheeran has asked Congress district level subcommittees to forward draft list of possible candidates for the Assembly elections by February 29.

The KPCC president, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala would meet and finalise the draft list on March 1. This list would be considered by the Congress High Command.

Congress to speed up candidate selection for Assembly election

The Congress will speed up steps for selection of candidates for Assembly elections in Kerala. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, KPCC President V. M. Sudheeran and Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala together will play a key role in selecting candidates.

Seat sharing talks with constituents of UDF will be held without delay.

These decisions were taken at the meeting the Congress high command had with Mr. Chandy, Mr. Sudheeran and Mr. Chennithala in New Delhi on Monday.
