Thiruvananthapuram: The imbroglio over finalising the candidate list of Congress for the Assembly elections continues.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi held discussions with Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Home Minister Ramesh Chenitthala and KPCC president V. M. Sudheeran in New Delhi to resolve the issues. However, Mr. Chandy as well as Sudheeran was adamant over their stands.

Thiruvananthapuram: The LDF announced candidates for 124 of the 140 constituencies in the State on Thursday for the Assembly elections.

Thiruvananthapuram: The CPI State executive has given green signal for party ticket to former Minister C. Divakaran.
Mr. Divakaran will be given exemption from the party’s thumb rule that leaders would not be given ticket a third time consecutively. Along with Mr. Divakaran, six other sitting members were also given exemption.

Thiruvananthapuram: Though Congress drew up a preliminary list of candidates, it could not reach seat sharing agreements with UDF constituents such Janata Dal (U) and RSP in talks held today.
Talks with JD (U) had to be aborted following strong disagreement on Janata Dal (U)’s demand for Mattannur and Elathur seats.
The Congress also did not agree with demand of RSP for six seats, though it was willing to concede five. Talks with Kerala Congress (Mani) and Kerala Congress (Jacob) are pending.
