Cabinet recommends issue of five Ordinances

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Cabinet on Tuesday recommended to the Governor the promulgation of an Ordinance to provide for formation of vigilance committees at the panchayat and constituency levels to prevent atrocities against women and children.

The Kerala Panchayat Raj (third amendment) Ordinance proposes that the committees should meet at least once every month.

The Ordinance will also have a provision for convening of special meetings to discuss cleanliness, environmental protection, nutrition, public health, protection of women and children, care of older persons and differently abled before holding of grama sabhas (once in three months).

The Cabinet also recommended repromulgation of four ordinances which could not be replaced during the last Assembly session. They are:   Kerala Town and Country Planning  Ordinance (2015), Kerala Stamp Paper (Amendment) Ordinance, Kerala Anganawadi Workers and Anganawadi Helpers Ordinance (2015) and  Kerala Land Tax (Amendment) Ordinance.
