Thiruvananthapuram: The Congress failed to resolve issues related to finalisation of its candidates for the Kerala Assembly elections in marathon talks held in New Delhi on Saturday.
The issues, especially that relating to granting tickets to tainted ministers, remained unresolved. The AICC will now decide on further talks.
KPCC president V. M. Sudheeran told the media that there was good progress in the talks and issues were close to resolution. It was up to the AICC to take decision now.
Earlier, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy held separate talks with KPCC president V. M. Sudheeran, Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala and Congress Working Committee member A. K. Antony. After that Mr. Chandy, Mr. Sudheeran and Mr. Chennithala held discussions with Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
Meetings of screening committee and discussions among leaders were going for the past five days. Chief Minister will now return to Kerala. Mr. Sudheeran and Mr. Chennithala will remain in Delhi.
