Thiruvananthapuram: UDF members disrupted the Assembly proceedings during question hour on Monday over fee hike in self-financing medical colleges.

A conciliatory meeting held by Speaker P. Sreeramakrishnan after adjourning the House failed to resolve the issue.

When the House resumed the sitting, the Opposition boycotted rest of the sitting. Kerala Congress (Mani) also joined the boycott.

Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala announced that they did not wish to stall the proceedings while their protest continued.

He said that the health condition of two Congress members of the House, who are continuing their hunger strike for the sixth day today, had worsened.

Meanwhile, Anoop Jacob (Kerala Congress-Jacob), who had discontinued his hunger strike following his hospitalisation, has been discharged from hospital.
