Thiruvananthapuram: The Director of Vigilance and Anti-corruption Bureau has decided on a preliminary enquiry into the allegations of nepotism against Industries Minister E. P. Jayarajan on Thursday.
However, orders are yet to be issued. The Vigilance will convey its decision to the Vigilance Court when public interest litigation comes up for consideration before the Court on Friday.
With this, the continuation of Mr. Jayarajan as Minister has increasingly become untenable.
Chief Minister Pinarai Vijayan and CPI (M) State secretary held consultations on the issue on Thursday as the party Secretariat is scheduled to meet to consider the issue on Friday. The national leadership of the party has indicated that strong action is needed in the matter.
Constituents of LDF have also expressed opinions against the appointments made by Mr. Jayarajan.
