Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Assembly Speaker P. Sreeramakrishnan has approved the request of Kerala Congress (Mani) to sit as a separate block in the Assembly.
Parliamentary party secretary of KC (M) Mon Joseph and Chief Whip Roshi Augustine had met the Speaker on Tuesday and handed over letter seeking to be recognised as a separate block in the House as the party had left United Democratic Front.
KC (M) had decided to quit UDF at a special camp of its State leaders held at Charalkunnu in August. Party leadership met in Kottayam before sending letter to the Speaker.
With Kerala Congress going out of the UDF, the Front’s strength in Assembly came down to 41. Kerala Congress has six members in the House.
As per its decision at the Charalkunnu camp, the party will be adopting an issue based approach in the Assembly.
