Vellappally begins march from Kasaragod

Samatwa Munneta YatraThiruvananthapuram: SNDP general secretary Vellappally Natesan began his Samatawa Munnetta Yatra from Kasaragod today.

The march is being undertaken towards formation of a political party in protest against “injustice to the majority community”. There is also plan to form a third front with BJP and others.

The Yatra began from Madur after lighting lamp at the Sreemadanantheswara Sidhivinayaka temple. BJP State president V. Muraleedharan was among those who had gathered to greet the march.

Later, speaking at a public meeting in Kasaragod, Mr. Natesan said that minorities are ruling the majority in the State.  The majority community lacks property, wealth and educational institutions.

The yatra and the proposed political party was to act as  a corrective force. It was not against any community.

He said that the UDF and LDF were responsible for the plight of endosulfan victims in Kasaragod district. The tragedy had happened when those fronts were ruling the State. But they took no steps to help the victims or register first information reports against those responsible for the tragedy.

The meeting was attended by heads of mutts. Leaders of Kerala Pulaya Maha Sabha and Viswa Hindu Parishat leaders also attended. The Yatra will conclude in Thiruvananthapuram on December 5.

KPCC president V. M. Sudheeran and Chief Minister Oommen Chandy criticised the Yatra. They maintained that the SNDP was catering to divisive agenda of RSS. Opposition Leader V. S. Achuthanandan said that the march would come a cropper by the time it reaches the capital.
