Thiruvananthapuram: Governor of Kerala P. Sathasivam has appealed to the members of the legal and media fraternities in Kerala to settle their differences amicably through dialogue.
In a message, the Governor said that the civil society had high expectations from lawyers and Journalists, as the functions they serve are integral to the maintenance of democracy in the country.

United Democratic Front in Kerala intensified its agitation against fee hike in self-financing medical colleges inside and outside the Assembly on Wednesday.

A hartal is being observed in Thiruvananthapuram district in protest against police action against Youth Congress activists yesterday.

The UDF has called for a hartal in Thiruvananthapuram district on Wednesday in protest against police action on Youth Congress workers agitating against agreement between government and self-financing colleges before the Secretariat on Tuesday.
The hartal, announced by Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala after a meeting of the UDF, will be from 6 am to 6 pm.

Kerala Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala has urged the Centre to evaluate the environmental and health impacts of genetically modified mustard before giving permission for its cultivation.
In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Opposition Leader noted that many environmentalists, agriculture scientists and farmers had raised concerns about commercial cultivation of genetically modified crops.
