Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition Leader V. S. Achuthanandan today wrote to the Vigilance and Anti-corruption Bureau calling upon it to register a first information report against Minister for Excise and Ports K. Babu for bribe-taking.
The Opposition Leader told the media that he would approach the courts if the Bureau failed to register a case against Mr. Babu.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said here on Wednesday that a decision on accepting the resignation of Government Chief Whip Thomas Unniyadan would be taken in consultation with Kerala Congress (M) Chairman K. M. Mani.
The Chief Minister said that Mr. Mani wanted the Chief Minister to be in charge of the Finance portfolio which was the default position.

GSAT-15, India’s latest communications satellite, was launched successfully by the European Ariane 5 VA-227 launch Vehicle in the early morning hours of today (November 11, 2015). The 3164 kg GSAT-15 carries communication transponders in Ku-band as well as a GPS Aided GEO Augmented Navigation payload operating in L1 and L5 bands.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said here today that neither he nor the UDF had demanded Mr. Mani’s resignation.
Announcing acceptance of Mr. Mani’s resignation, the Chief Minister said that he still considered Mr. Mani as innocent and believed that he would be able to return after proving his innocence.

Kerala Minister for Finance and Law K. M. Mani resigned as Minister today in view of the adverse remarks from High Court in the bar-bribery case. Government Chief Whip Thomas Unniyadan also resigned in solidarity with him.
Announcing his decision, the Minister said that he was resigning expressing his regard for the rule of law. He would continue to extend unreserved support to the United Democratic Front.
