Assembly passes Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Bill

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Assembly passed the Kerala Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Bill today.

The Bill proposes formation of a real estate regulatory authority and appellate tribunal to promote real estate business in the State and protect the interests of clients.

Opposition disrupts Kerala Assembly, climbs on the Speaker's podium

MLAs on Speaker's podiumThe Opposition climbed on to the podium of the Speaker in Kerala Assembly on Monday and disrupted the proceedings.

The Opposition was protesting against the Speaker rejecting a notice given by Opposition to move an adjournment motion alleging that the government was undermining the functioning of the Solar Inquiry Commission.

Assembly refers Malayalam language Bill to Subject Committee

The Assembly today referred the Malayalam language (Dissemination and Enrichment) Bill to the Subject Committee.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, who piloted the Bill, said that the government would see to it that the provisions of the Bill do not cause any difficulties to linguistic minorities.

Bill aims establishment of wage protection system: Minister

Thiruvananthapuram: Labour Minister Shibu Baby John said in the Assembly today that the Payment of Wages (Kerala Amendment) Bill was aimed as introducing a wage protection system in the State.

Replying to the debate on the Bill, which the House later passed, the Minister said that payments of wages under the system would be through banks. Wage slips would have to be given to workers and the details would go to the Labour Office.

No cases for Human Rights Courts in Kerala

Human RightsHardly anyone is approaching the Human Rights courts in the State though they were constituted about two years ago.
This is not because there are no complaints about human rights violations.
