Technological university has not outsourced conduct of examinations: Minister

Minister for Education Abdu RubbEducation Minister P. K. Abdu Rubb told the Assembly today that the Kerala Technological University had had not outsourced conduct of its examinations. It had only outsourced the software.
Replying to the debate on the Kerala Public Service Commission (Additional Functions as Respects the Universities) Bill, the Minister said that system was introduced for speeding up publication of results.

Biomedical waste treatment facilities to come up in Kochi, Kozhikode

Thiruvananthapuram: New facilities for treating biomedical waste will come up in Kochi and Kozhikode.

Minister for Electricity Aryadan Mohammed, who is also in charge of pollution control, said that land had been allotted to Indian Medical Association for building the common facility.

The Minister was responding to debate on the Kerala Public Service Commission (Additional Functions as Respects the Services under the Kerala State Pollution Control Board) Bill.

The House later referred the Bill to the Subject Committee.

RTI Appellate authority orders training for information officers

Thiruvananthapuram: An Appellate Authority in the Industries Department under RTI Act has directed State Information Office and Assistant Information Officer of the Administrative wing of the Department to undergo training on RTI because of their failure to respond to an RTI application properly.

Bar-bribery: Opposition disrupts proceedings in the Assembly

Rukus in AssemblyKerala Assembly adjourned for the day following Opposition protests over alleged bribe-taking by Excise Minster K. Babu.

The Opposition members moved into the well of the House and obstructed proceedings after the Speaker N. Sakthan refused permission to move an adjournment motion given notice of by Deputy Leader of CPI (M) Kodiyeri Balakrishnan to discuss alleged bribe-taking by Mr. Babu.
