KPCC president V. M. Sudheeran has come out against UDF’s plan to launch joint agitation with the LDF in protest against crisis in the cooperative sector.
Taking a stand opposed to that of senior leader Oommen Chandy and Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala, the KPCC president said that the CPI (M) was trying to undermine UDF-controlled cooperatives in several places. So, a joint agitation could not be with the CPI (M).

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarai Vijayan is leading a satyagraha in front of RBI Office here today to highlight the crisis in the cooperative sector in the State following demonetisation.
The protest is over the cooperatives not being permitted to do transactions including exchange of notes.

The United Democratic Front will observe Thursday as black day in protest against the negative attitude of Central government in addressing the shortage of currency notes.
Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala said in a press release that true character of the government was visible in it marking the poor, who queue up before banks for exchange of demonetised note, with indelible ink while writing off loans of millionaires.

Kerala government continued to lobby for cooperative in the State even as Reserve Bank of India tightened controls.
Minister for Cooperation A. C. Moideen wrote to the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and held discussion with Reserve Bank authorities here on Monday.

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarai Vijayan announced here on Sunday that government was granting time till November 30 for remittance of tax and other dues to the government.
The Chief Minister said that the time would be given till the end of month for remittance of various fees, utility bills, building tax and other payments due this month. Vehicle tax payable by autorikshaws and taxis could be paid without fine till the end of this month.
However, these exemptions would not apply to VAT, excise and repayment of loans.
