Government liberalised rules for creative expression of staff: Chandy

Chief Minister Oommen ChandyKerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has clarified that the government order on creative expression by government employees was actually intended to dilute existing provisions.

He had frozen the order when reports to the contrary appeared in the media.

The Chief Minister refuted the criticism of SNDP general secretary Vellappally Natesan that development was centered in Malappuram and Kottayam districts.

Chief Secretary Jiji Thomson was asked to look into the issue and submit a report.

Mullaperiyar dam: water level crosses 136 feet

Mullaperiyar DamThiruvananthapuram: The water level in the Mullaperiyar reservoir has crossed 136 feet following heavy rains in the catchment areas and reduction of intake by Tamil Nadu.

There is fear that the water level will be climbing further as it continues to rain in the catchments. The weather bureau has forecast isolated heavy rain over Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Lakshadweep today.
