Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chany is yet to forward resignation of Excise Minister K. Babu to the Governor for acceptance.
The Chief Minister is reportedly visiting for the High Court decision on the appeal preferred by K. babu before the High Court against the order of the Vigilance Court to register a case against Mr. Babu as quick verification of allegations against the Minister was nowhere near completion within the mandatory 42 days.
The Chief Minister said that he hardly got time to deal with the resignation. He had been deposing before the Solar Inquiry Commission for 14 hours continuously. On Tuesday, he had left for Ernakulam to attend the funeral of A. C. Jose after attending the Republic Day celebrations in Thiruvananthapuram.
Mr. Chandy told the media after Cabinet meeting on Wednesday that he would hold discussions with Congress leaders on the resignation who would be gathering at Pulpally in connection with march led by KPCC President V. M. Sudheeran.
Meanwhile, Mr. Babu said that he was not going to withdraw his resignation even if the Court decision on appeal is favourable to him.
