Thiruvananthapuram: CPI (M) has come out strongly against filing of the petition by State government before High Court seeking speeding up hearing on Lavlin case.
The Government has sought immediate consideration of the revision petition filed by CBI and others against the trial court rejecting the charge sheet filed by the CBI against CPI (M) leader Pinarai Vijayan and others. The Government is maintaining that the court overlooked evidence before it.
CPI (M) State Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan told the media that the petition was politically motivated. “Otherwise, why had the government waited till the elections though the court had rejected the charges more than two years ago? The party will fight it politically and legally. The petition was the result of conspiracy between Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and the BJP”
Mr. Balakrishnan added that the petition was aimed at diverting attention from the ongoing investigation by the Solar Enquiry Commission which had criticised the government recently for not aiding the enquiry.
Mr. Balakrisnnan announced that the CPI (M) will be seeking public opinion for preparing its manifesto for the forthcoming Assembly elections. People could submit suggestions online and in writing. The party would be launching the election campaign with a clear strategy and programme.
