Thiruvananthapuram: The Vigilance and Anti-corruption Bureau is continuing investigation into the wealth allegedly amassed by former Excise Minister K. Babu.
The Vigilance Police, which had raided the House of Mr. Babu and his relatives and alleged benamis on Sunday, today examined the locker of Mr. Babu’s daughter.
The Vigilance is also enquiring into the source of income of one of the benamis who was found to have done more than 25 land deals. A member of the personal staff of Mr. Babu has been questioned.
Meanwhile, Vigilance Police have arrested the Managing Director of Malabar Cements K. Padmakumar. This followed raids conducted a few days ago.
Mr. Padmakumar has been removed as Managing Director.
The Vigilance has also initiated two more cases against former Finance Minister K. M. Mani. One of this related to tax concession granted to an industrial unit and the other about source of funds used for a mass wedding.
Update: Vigilance police have examined the contents of another bank locker belonging to the daughter of K. Babu on Tuesday. It produced gold found in the lockers before the Vigilance Court in Muvattupuzha.
