KPCC submits preliminary list of candidates to high command

Thiruvananthapuram: KPCC on Tuesday submitted its preliminary list of candidates for the Assembly elections to the Congress high command.

The list was finalised following discussions among Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, KPCC president V. M. Sudheeran and Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala last night.

It is understood that Mr. Chandy and Chennithala are the only names proposed for contest from their sitting seats. Multiple names have been proposed for all other constituencies including those of sitting members of the Assembly.  All sitting members except Aryadan Muhammed is in the list. Up to seven persons figure in the list for some seats.

Mr. Sudheeran’s name does not figure in the list. Film actors Jagadish and Siddique are proposed to be fielded from Pathanapuram and Aroor respectively.

The Pradesh Election Committee will meet on April 23 to consider the list vetted by the high command. Further consultations with the high command on finalising the list will take place after that.
