Thiruvananthapuram: The Government has refused permission to Director General of Police Jacob Thomas to take legal actions against Chief Minister Oommen Chandy for allegedly disparaging remarks made by the Chief Minister against the police officer.
The Chief Minister, who had stated that he would only be too willing to grant the permission, today said that the Cabinet had disagreed with him. Ministers felt that it was not his personal issue but an administrative matter.
Mr. Thomas was peeved by description of him as an ‘anti-people officer’ by the Chief Minister and apparently wanted to proceed against Mr. Chandy for libel. This stand was approved by Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala.
