Pinarai begins march

Kasaragod: CPI (M) general Secretary Prakash Karat flagged off the ‘Nav Kerala March’ led by party leader Pinarai Vijayan, at Uppala near here on Saturday.

Nava Kerala March

The march is being organised as a prelude to the Assembly election campaign by the party highlighting political and developmental issues.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Karat said that KPCC president V. M. Sudheerean was on a similar march to save UDF leaders who were immersed in corruption.  People wanted to change the corrupt government led by Oommen Chandy.

CPI (M) State secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said that the march would not be raising the Lavalin case as an issue. The government had revived the case to divert attention from the issues being raised by the CPI (M) and its march. The people know everything about the Lavalin case.

Opposition Leader V. S. Achuthanandan said that resistance to attempts of RSS to divide people was growing.

The march will cover all the 140 Assembly constituencies in the State and conclude in Thiruvananthapuram on February 14.
