Kottayam: KPCC president V. M. Sudheeran said here on Thursday the Opposition was behind the allegations against Chief Minister Oommen Chandy relating to solar scam. The Congress was extending full support to the Chief Minister in the matter.
The KPCC president recalled that accused in the solar scam Saritha S. Nair herself had alleged that the CPI (M) had offered her Rs. 10 crore to undermine the government. The plan was to tarnish the image of the Chief Minister and force him to quit with the aid of Saritha and bar owners.
The allegations being raised by Saritha were unbelievable.
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said that a political conspiracy was behind the allegations made by Saritha S. Nair before the Solar Scam Inquiry Commission.
The Government’s bold stand against the liquor lobby was behind that. The allegations started pouring in after the liquor lobby failed to get favourable verdicts from courts against the State’s abkari policy. The attempt was to prevent the UDF from coming to power again.
Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala said that vested interests, opposed to the liquor policy, were behind the allegations.
