Achuthanandan calls for filing of FIR against Minister K. Babu

Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition Leader V. S. Achuthanandan today wrote to the Vigilance and Anti-corruption Bureau calling upon it to register a first information report against Minister for Excise and Ports K. Babu for bribe-taking.

The Opposition Leader told the media that he would approach the courts if the Bureau failed to register a case against Mr. Babu.

Kerala Bar Hotel Owners Association leader Biju Ramesh had alleged that he had paid a bribe of Rs. 1 crore to the Minister in two installments. This was paid at the Minister’s office.

Mr. Babu refuted the allegations and said that emissaries of Mr. Ramesh had approached him to seek withdrawal of the defamation suit filed by him against Ramesh when the latter raised the allegations earlier.
