Thiruvananthapuram: The government will go on appeal before High Court against the order of the State Information Commission that details of Cabinet decisions taken by the previous government should be released under RTI Act.
This has been communicated to the Commission by the government.
The Commission had ordered that the decisions should be communicated to applicant Advocate D. B. Binu ofHuman Rights Defence Forum within ten days. The government did not comply with that.
The government is also not considering the Commission’s directive that future decisions by the Cabinet should be published within 48 hours on the official Web site.
It may be recalled that LDF leaders had criticised the previous government about hiding controversial decisions taken by the Cabinet just before the elections. The present government is reviewing those decisions. However, it is unwilling to do that in a transparent manner by publishing details of all decisions.
