Thodupuzha: Nearly 100 persons will be removed from the electoral rolls in Udumbanchola Assembly constituency of Kerala and Cumbum Assembly constituency of Tamil Nadu who were found to have electoral registration in both the constituencies.
The action followed a High Court order to eliminate duel enrollment in Idukki district of Kerala and Theni district of Kerala. However, the Desiya Paristhithi Congress (BPC), which had approached the Court, says that the action was incomplete and more people still had duel registration.

Thiruvananthapuram: election Commission of India has cleared implementation of free distribution of rice to poor families under the public distribution system.
However, enrolment of new beneficiaries with elections in view will not be permitted under the code of conduct for the elections.

Kerala High Court has directed release of funds sanctioned from Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund which had been held up for want of clearance from the Election Commission of India under code of conduct for the elections.
The Court directed payment of a total of Rs. 44.54 crore to 44327 beneficiaries in 14 districts of the State on a petition filed by four of the beneficiaries.

Thiruvananthapuram: The candidates list announced by Janata Dal (Secular) today leaves out sitting member Jose Thettayil. The former Minister will be replaced by Benny Munjeli (former chairman of Ankamali municipality) in Ankamali constituency.
The other candidates are: Chittoor- K. Krishnankutty, Kovalam- Jameela Prakasam, Thiruvalla-Mathew T. Thomas, Vadakara- C. K. Nanu.
